    • BOSSIER CITY, LA ? Funeral services honoring the life of Betty Lea Banning, born on April 16, 1928 and went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 11, 2014, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bossier City. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will at Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA. Officiating will be Reverends Carlton Gilmer and grandson-in-law, Lee Baker.
      Betty was born in Magnolia, Mississippi. She graduated from Magnolia High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church (now Trinity Presbyterian) for over 50 years where she loved to sing in the choir, was a deacon and elder and held various offices with the Women of the Church. Betty retired from the State of Louisiana Department of Transportation.
      Preceding Betty in death were her parents, Clark Rice Lea and Allie Thomas Lea, her husband of 45 years, John ?Jack? Banning and her sister, Virginia Lea Appelquest.
      Betty is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn Green (Sonny), Cathy Barnes and Susan Shaver (Joe). Grandchildren are Christie Jones (Huel), Melissa Smith (Matt), Nicole Wilhite (Jarrett), Jennifer Green, Jaclyn Baker (Lee), Pamela Perkins (Kennith), Robert Green and Carey Lea Petty. Great-grandchildren are Chris Jones, Collin Jones, William and Luke Green, Jadyn and Weston Green, Cody Wilhite, London and Presley Baker, Ethan Perkins and Isabella Beatley.
      Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Robert Green, Huel Jones, Chris Jones, Jarrett Wilhite, Lee Baker and Kennith Perkins.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1944 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71112; the Alzheimer?s Association, 910 Pierremont Road, Shreveport, LA 71106 or to the charity of your choice.
      The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the many nurses and caretakers who have loved our mom and treated her with dignity and respect. Special thanks to Heritage Manor Stratmore, LifePath Hospice and Merrill Gardens.
