Notes |
- Marjorie Nelson passed away peacefully January 6, 2010. She was born in Reno, NV, on August 14, 1928, the youngest of four children born to Leonard and Georgia Hadlock. Marjorie grew up in Reno, graduating from Reno High School in 1946. While attending summer school, she met her loving husband, Vance Nelson from Winnemucca, and they were married shortly thereafter. Their home was in Reno, but she enjoyed summers at Donner Lake and frequent trips to Florence, OR.
Early in their marriage Vance and Marge went into business together. Reno Auto Body was their first endeavor, followed by other automotive businesses, and later they pursued real estate investments.
Marjorie's well-tended gardens always resulted in beautiful displays of flowers. She was an accomplished pianist and artist, and knitting was a favorite pastime. Through much of her life she was a member of the Florence Knitting Club and Truckee Garden Club. Above all, Marge was a loving wife, wonderful mother and nurturing grandmother, always positively encouraging and supporting her family's endeavors. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Vance; son Eric (Teri) Nelson; daughers Marja Grant and Valerie (Steve) Nelson; and grandchildren Jesse (Ellen) Grant, Taylor, Kellen, Annelise, and Matt; brother Robert Hadlock.
A service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 9 at Walton's Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd St. in Reno. Everyone who knew Marjorie is invited to join in a celebration of her life following the service. Marjorie Nelson passed away peacefully January 6, 2010.
