Notes |
- Hazel Joyce Porter, daughter of Ray Wilson and Nellie Frances Solomon Banning, was born October 21, 1928, in Norman, Oklahoma. She departed this life Tuesday, November 21, 2017, in Marshfield Care Center, in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, and one month.
On October 21, 1954, she was united in marriage to Murl Edward Porter, and to this union four daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Murl, on December 30, 1999; a daughter, Patricia Porter; a son-in-law, Dean Oliver; a granddaughter, Jennifer Wallace; two brothers, Ralph and Basil Banning; and two sisters, Ruth Schleicher, and Naomi Underwood.
Hazel is survived by three daughters, Dee Oliver, Marie Oliver, and her husband, Daniel, and Mary Wallace, and her husband, Kevin, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Sam Porter, and his wife, Kathy, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Earl Porter, and his wife, Jeanne, of Conway, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born in Oklahoma and was raised in Oklahoma, Colorado and California before her family moved to Laclede County, Missouri, in the 1940?s. Hazel then attended Phillipsburg High School. After she and Murl were married, they made their home in Conway, Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Through the years, Hazel was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Hazel had attended Twilight Church, near Conway, Missouri.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery projects. She received her greatest joy from being with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
