- Gay, Larry Passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Larry was born November 2, 1943 in Battle Creek, MI to Wayne E. Gay and Beryle (Pennock-Gay) Sage. He graduated from Delton Kellogg High School in 1962. He joined the Marine Corp in January 1963 for 4 years and spent 9 months in Viet Nam. Larry worked 3-1/2 years as a deputy for the Barry County Sheriff Dept. and 27-1/2 years as a deputy for the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Dept., retiring in December, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (Knobloch) Gay; their son, Randy; brothers, Wayne (Jan) Gay and Kevin (Diane) Sage; sister, Debra Sutter; several nieces, nephews, stepbrothers and a stepsister. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother Irene; mother and stepfather Mahlan. According to his wishes, Larry has been cremated and will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Dignity Cremation Services.
