- Leo James Blanck age 84 passed away Wednesday November 21, 2012 in Battle Creek following a long illness. He was born March 25, 1928 to Aaron James Blanck and Inis Blanche Brooks in Battle Creek and was a 1946 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from 1946-47 aboard the USS Pickaway and USS Washburn and was employed as an institutional food broker for most of his adult life. On December 6, 1975 he was married in the First Congregational Church in Battle Creek to Jean Marie Reynolds who survives. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Battle Creek and the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City where he volunteered his time and talents in various positions. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed travel, playing cards, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the Osceola County Food Pantry.
He is survived by his wife Jean Marie Blanck of Battle Creek, son Jonathon (Mary) Blanck of Merced, CA, daughter Kimberly (Ken) Blanck of Novato, CA, stepdaughters Sandy (Jim) Denzel of Milpitas, CA and Kathy (Randy) Crandall of Mendon, stepson Mike (Jan) Reynolds of Hastings, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Inis Blanck, and his first wife Corrinne Owen Blanck.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday November 27, 2012 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City with Rev. Dawn Pooley officiating. A funeral service will also be held 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the First Congregational Church in Battle Creek with Rev. Thomas Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in his name to either the Osceola County Food Pantry or Habitat for Humanity and envelopes will be available during visitation Tuesday November 27, 2012 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.
