- Mr. Ephriam Cannon "Cotton" Garrett Sr., 75, of Greenville, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 at the Greenville Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Amy Arnold-Hoffman, the Reverend Jonathan Porter and the Reverend Jan Tolbert will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Garrett was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Meriwether County, son of the late Levie Franklin Garrett and the late Sara Blair Garrett. A veteran of service in the U.S. Air Force, he was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County and retired as a resident engineer from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was an Elder of Greenville Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Greenville Lions Club, and had served many years as a volunteer for the Meriwether County Fire Department and the Greenville Fire Department. He was also a former Meriwether County Sheriff's deputy.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Keedie Holton Garrett; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Scott Atkins; a son and daughter-in-law, Sandy and Jenny Garrett; one brother, Marcus Garrett of Sanford, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Chris Garrett, Kristen Garrett, Luke Atkins and Sarah Blair Atkins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Jenkins.
Contributions can be made to the Greenville Presbyterian Church building fund, the Greenville Baptist Church building fund, or to West Georgia Hospice.
