- Dorothy Thomas Seipold, 92, of Hamden died January 24, 2016 of natural causes. The wife of John W. Seipold, also of Hamden, she was a resident of Whitney Manor Rehabilitation Center for the past 8 years. Born July 29, 1923 to the late Raymond and Dorothy (Noble) Thomas of West Haven she lived in that city for over 60 years. A 1940 graduate of West Haven High School she went on to do clerical work for several companies in New Haven including C.S. Mersick and Prudential Insurance. She also performed professionally around CT and NY in swing and polka bands, playing a mean saxophone and clarinet. In later years she held jobs at several retail stores in Hamden and was a member of the Spring Glen United Church of Christ. In addition to her husband of 61 years she leaves behind her son, Paul T. Seipold of Hamden and her grandson, Paul W. Seipold of East Haven. She was predeceased by another son, James Seipold and her brother, Edwin Thomas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Friday morning Jan. 29, at 11 am at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 WHITNEY AVE. HAMDEN, and may visit with her family from 10-11 am before the service. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Spring Glen Church, UCC.
