- Evelyn C. Maynard, 83, of Great Hillwood Rd., Moodus, died Tuesday, (Sept 4, 2001) at Chestelm Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Moodus. She was the beloved wife of the late, Kenneth Maynard. She was born in Moodus, on July 27, 1918, daughter of the late Matthew and Nora (Bride) Cashman. Mrs. Maynard was a life long resident of Moodus and a graduate of Nathan Hale High School class of 1936.
She was employed at the Moodus Post Office retiring after 20 years as the Postmaster. She was a director of the East Haddam Public Library and a member of the St. Bridget's Ladies Guild.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Maynard of East Hartford, and Kevin Maynard of Moodus; a brother, Matthew Cashman of Moodus; and two sisters, Rita Marcolini of Old Saybrook, and Nora (Theresa) Conley of Haddonfield, NJ. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and a sister-in law, Caroline Cashman of Moodus. Mrs. Maynard is pre deceased by a brother, Vincent Cashman.
A funeral procession will leave at The Swan Funeral Home, 27 WF Palmer Road, Moodus, Saturday, Sept 8, at 9:45am for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget's Church of Kildare in Moodus. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Moodus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to The American Cancer Society.
