  Norman W. Roberts 1914 - 2006 AGAWAM - Norman "Norm" Wesley Roberts, 91, a lifelong resident of Agawam died Thursday April 13, 2006 at Baystate Medical Center. Norm was born in Agawam, June 29, 1914, a son of the late Frederick and Anna Wittschiebe Roberts. He was a 1933 graduate of Agawam High School. Norm furthered his education at American International College. He worked at C. J. Roberts Engineering for many years, finally opening his own business Eastern Gas and Electric in West Springfield. He later worked as a car salesman at various dealerships in the greater Springfield Area and retired in 1979. Norm married, Vivian E. Cordes in 1941 and the couple would have celebrated 65 years together in June. Norm was a lifelong member and usher at the Agawam Baptist Church and also was a member of the church's Mr. & Mrs. Club. He was a 55 year member of the Elm Belcher Lodge of Masons, a Charter Member of both the Magawa Sporting Club and The Agawam Lions Club. He belonged to the Agawam Historical Association and the Golden Age Chapter II. He was an avid gardener and loved to share his annual crops with family and friends. Norm liked playing cards, fishing and was a sports enthusiast. In addition to his wife, Norm is survived by a son, Dr. Dale W. Roberts of Suffield; a daughter Judie Phillips and her husband Robert of Sullivan Harbor, ME; a brother, Warren Roberts of Feeding Hills; five grandchildren, Wendy Phillips of Dallas, TX; Kari Muslih of Houston, TX; Heather Stacy of Mason, OH; Rebecca Roberts of Boston, MA; Christopher Roberts of Suffield, CT; 3 great granddaughters, Lauren and Jocelyn Stacy of Mason, OH and Ava Muslih of Houston, TX. He also leaves three sisters in law, a brother in law and several nieces & nephews. Norm was predeceased by a sister, Doris Kerigan and three brothers, Lawrence, Carl and Woodrow Roberts. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 20th at 12 noon at the Agawam Baptist Church 760 Main St, Agawam followed by a burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. A Masonic Evergreen service will be conducted on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home 985 Main St, Agawam. If friends desire, memorial donations in his memory may be made to Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104 or to the Agawam Baptist Church Building Renovation Fund.
