Lyme - Monroe B. Beebe, of Lyme, died on Jan. 8, 2005, at the Mariner Health Care Center at Bride Brook in Niantic.
He was born on April 20, 1920, in Old Lyme, the son of Victor Lloyd and Catherine Brewin Beebe.
He was the widower of Marie Sperrazza Beebe.
Mr. Beebe was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic and a member of the operating engineers for over 60 years. He was an inventor and held a U.S. patent.
Mr. Beebe was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Africa and Italy. He was a member of the Caterpillar Club and a member of the 781st Bomb Squadron Association.
He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Beebe, of Lyme, and Lee Beebe, of Las Vegas; his sister, Doris Smith, of W. LaFayette, Ind.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Elyse Bogue and Leonie Williams.
A memorial service will be held in the First Congregational Church of Lyme at a later date which will be announced. There are no calling hours.
