- Robert E. Kirk 1935 - 2009 HAMPDEN-Robert E. "Bob" Kirk, 74, formerly of Main St. and a resident of Hampden for over 30 years, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital, Spring-field. Born & educated in Springfield, Bob was a 1953 graduate of Springfield Technical High School. Bob was employed as a truck driver for Mobil Oil Corp. for 26 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Hampden Volunteer Fire Dept., the Hampden Lions club, and had served in the US Army. Bob is survived by a son, Thomas Kirk and his wife Lara of East Longmeadow, MA, two daughters, Betty Rubner and her husband Scott of Enfield, CT, & Rosemary Bennett and her husband Gregory of Northampton, MA, a brother Albert Kirk and his wife Dorothy of Wilbraham, MA, and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Connors) Kirk in 1996. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24th, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Byron-Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St., Springfield, MA. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Hampden, MA. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, 4-8 pm. Memorial contributions to Life Care Center of Wilbraham Activity Fund, 2399 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
