- Constance Willis Dunbar
Age 82 of Elkton, MD died Saturday, August 20, 2005.
Born in 1923 the daughter of Ruth Willis. She moved to Elkton from PA over 50 years ago. Constance graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Education. She later obtained her master's degree from the University of Delaware. She first taught at Rising Sun and then Elkton Middle School. She also taught Chemistry at Newark High School from 1960 to 1984 where she was also the Advisor to the Senior Class, Prom Advisor and Honors Society Advisor. She served on Middle States and also on the Delaware State Education Association. She was High School Chemistry Teacher of the Year in 1982.
She served on the Elkton Town Commission for 8 years and was the first female commissioner. She also served on the Maryland Municipal League as a representative of Elkton. She volunteered at the hospital as well as the Good As New Shop and also at the Fair Hill Races. She was a member of the Elkton Revitalization Committee and the Elkton United Methodist Church where she served as Choir Director for the Youth Choir at one time.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Sterling Ayerst Dunbar, whom she married December 25, 1950; son, Steven Ayerst Dunbar and daughter, Amy Ruth Dunbar, both of Elkton.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2005, at Elkton United Methodist Church at 4 pm, where the family will receive friends after 3 pm. Interment will be private
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o GEE FUNERAL HOME, 259 E. MAIN St., Elkton, MD 21921.
