- AYERST Walter Douglas Ayerst, 54, of Jacksonville Beaches, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2010. Walt was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on April 27, 1956. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Douglas Ayerst in 1983 and his brother, Steve Ayerst in 1984. He is survived by his mother Betty Ayerst, of Atlantic Beach; two sisters, Cindy Berry, of Jacksonville Beach and Diane Weldon of Tallahassee, Fla.; and the love of his life Paula Gatlin, of Neptune Beach. Family and friends will remember Walt for his love of life and wonderful sense of adventure. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Assoc. in Walt's memory - Memorials and Tributes P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
