HUNTINGTON
Beatrice Ursula Knight, 67, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Fletcher Allen Health Care. She was born in Starksboro on April 17, 1934, the daughter of the late Phillip and Ursula Hallock. She married William Knight in Huntington on May 9, 1953. Bea was a member of the Huntington Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a kind and devoted caregiver to many friends and neighbors. She was a volunteer at Brewster Pierce Elementary School, where she enjoyed the first- and second-graders. Bea was an avid fan of the Huntington Hillbillies softball team. She loved big family gatherings, swimming with all the kids, cooking and baking. The summer months were spent gardening, canning and freezing the bountiful produce. She loved all animals, especially her dear cat, Tommy.
She is survived by her husband, William, for whom she had been the dedicated caregiver for many years; her daughter, Karen Doolan and her husband, Mike, of Essex; seven sons, Myron and his partner, Patricia Haskins, of Huntington, Mike and Sheila Knight of Starksboro, Marvin Knight of Winooski, Marty and Shelly Knight of Waterbury, Monte and Rebecca Knight of Huntington, Milford and Laurie Knight of Burlington, and Merle and Carolyn Knight of Bristol; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandson; her sister, Freda Bean of Huntington; two brothers, Clarence Hallock of Lincoln and Clinton Hallock of Essex Junction; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Isabelle Moody and Marion Brace; three brothers, Celon, Nelson and Dayton Hallock, and a special family member, Glen Truax.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 9, at 11 a.m. in the Huntington Baptist Church with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Huntington.
