Notes |
- Esther Elenora LeRoy passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2007 at the age of 87, after a brave two year battle with cancer. Esther was born on April 4, 1920 in Reynolds, Indiana to Harry and Alfreda Buschman. She grew up on her familyÃ?â??s farm where she was the eldest of eight brothers and sisters. After graduating from Reynolds High School, Esther attended Manchester College for 3 years, and then took her first teaching assignment in Van Wert, Ohio before serving in the WAVES during WWII. Her military service took her to San Francisco, CA where after the war she received her degree in education from San Francisco State University, and met her future husband Bruce Murdock LeRoy. They married on November 7, 1947 in Carmel, CA and were wed fifty-two years. After relocating to Seattle, WA with her husband in 1951, she continued to teach in the Seattle School District, and adopted son Philip and daughter Carolyn. Her husbandÃ?â??s career took the family to Lakewood, WA in 1958, where she resided until the time of her death. Esther continued her teaching career for the Clover Park School District at Custer Elementary until she retired in 1980. After retirement, she kept busy with her hobbies of sewing, gardening, traveling with her husband, and helping to look after her young grandchildren. She continued to remain active in the ADK Sorority until a few years ago.Her primary joy in life was her family, and doing for others. Esther was predeceased by her parents, brothers Carl, Linden, and Harold Buschman, Sister Mary (Nelson), daughter Carolyn, husband Bruce, and former daughter-in-law Holly (LeRoy). She is survived by her son Philip LeRoy, grandchildren Rachael LeRoy and Jacob LeRoy, brother-in-law Walt Ellis (Rosemary) of Portland, OR, sisters Vera Idle, West Lafayette, Ind. Alice (Bir), Alexandria, Ind. brother Fred Buschman of Reynolds, Ind. and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank MultiCare Hospice and former care-giver and friend Roz Foote.
