- Mary Jane Werley, a former personal care aide, died Sunday in her home after a 12 1/2 -year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 60.
Born Mary Jane Cronos in Knoxville, Tenn., she went to school there. She moved here in 1960.
In the 1970s, Mrs. Werley worked with the Health Association of Niagara County and later with Staff Builders as a care aide. She left that organization around 1990.
Mrs. Werley enjoyed drawing and was interested in art, especially painting, sculpture and stained glass. She made quilts and had taken courses toward a pilot's license in the 1980s.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Douglas E.; two daughters, Cynthia DePadre and Donna Previte, both of Austin, Texas; a son, David of Wheatfield; a sister, Shirley Wesley of Atlanta; three brothers, Bill Cronos of Boston, Mass., and Harold Cronos and Darrell Cronos, both of Niagara Falls; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wheatfield Neighborhood Church of the Christian Missionary Alliance, 7041 Witmer Road, after prayers at 10 in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in Wheatfield Cemetery.
