Notes |
- Died, at her home in Mentor, Ohio, Sept. 2nd, 1901, Mary C. Wardner, at the advanced age of 73 years. She had been in feeble health for a number of years. Heart trouble caused her death. Mary Gates was born in Webster, N.Y. Oct. 14, 1827, and was married Oct. 19, 1844 to James C. Cook. Unto them six children were born, two of whom survive, L.L. Cook of Mentor, Ohio and Lucy L. Slater of this village. Mr. Cook died during the Civil War.
She was afterward married to Silas Wardner, Sept. 22, 1867, who still survives her.
The funeral was held at the home of her son, L.L. Cook, Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, 1901, Rev. Mr. Douglas, officiating. She was laid at rest by the side of her son, Charles, in Mentor.
