- Barbara J Steenberg, 73, of 404 Oak Lane, Johnson City, Tenn., formerly of Massena, died Thursday (May 4, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Steenberg was housekeeping supervisor at Sheridan Inn.
Born July 8, 1926, in Massena, a daughter of William and Aletha Hackett Collins, she married Arthur H Steenberg on Jan. 1, 1947, in Massena with the Rev. Walter Page officiating. Mr. Steenberg died June 9, 1993.
Mrs. Steenberg and her husband had spent winters in Florida and the rest of the year in Massena and Tennesee.
Surviving are two sons, Danny E., North Lawrence, and Wayne H., Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Marlene Steenberg, Johnson City and Mrs. Timothy (Kathy) Gardner and Connie Brouse, both of Massena; three brothers, Paul and Gilbert Collins, both of Massena, and Donald Collins, Paul Smiths; two sisters, Mrs. Marcel (Sylvia) Quenneville and Arlene Wood, both of Massena; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 am Monday at Phillips Memorial Home with the Rev. Lance Dallaire, pastor of Emmanuel Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2:30 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Johnson City Medical Center Hospice, 1807 W. Market St., Johnson City, Tenn. 37604, or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
