    • MASSENA ? Mr. Marcel A. Quenneville, 80, of 22 Haskell Street, peacefully passed away Monday evening, June 15, 2015 at Massena Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
      Marcel was born January 13, 1935 in Cornwall, Ontario, the son of the late Lionel and Alice Lauzon Quenneville. On August 10, 1957, he married Sylvia E. Steenberg at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Father Kellogg, officiating. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1959 to 1961.
      Marcel was a very skilled mason and bricklayer for 65 years. He worked for the St. Lawrence Seaway retiring in 1997 as construction inspector. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Council Knights of Columbus #1141; Gerald R. Roy AMVETS Post #4; and the Massena, Seaway Valley, and Akwesasne Senior Citizens. Marcel was also an honorary member of the Massena Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed being a member of the Via Main Coffee Club. For 35 years, Marcel coached Massena Minor Hockey. He was also a member of the Village of Massena Planning Board, loved to garden and spend time with his family and friends.
      He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sylvia; his children, Debbie and Merrill Sharpe of Madrid; Tim and Michelle Quenneville of Massena; Cindy Quenneville and Dave Spyker of Massena; and Michael ?Eggy? and Lisa Quenneville of Huntsville, AL; his grandchildren, Drew, Lindsey, Ryan, Jessica, Cody, Alisha Jane, and Haleigh; two great grandchildren, Rachel and Sophia; and a dear family friend, Patricia Brown. Marcel is also survived by two brothers, Lionel Jr. and Rose Quenneville and Raoule and Sharon Quenneville, all of Cornwall; his sisters, Jackie Quenneville, Jeannie Sturgeon, Diane and Ken Bergeron, Denise and Richard Gagnon, and Annette and Corrigan Cooper, all of Cornwall; and Marie LeGault of Montreal; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Wood of Massena; Mary Collins of Paul Smiths; and Charmaine Quenneville of Cornwall; a brother-in-law, Victor Proulx of Cornwall; as well as many nieces and nephews.
      In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Dorianne Proulx and Dorilla Quenneville and two brothers, Henri and Adelord Quenneville.
      Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Friday 1-4 and 6-9 PM. The members of the Knights of Columbus will conduct a memorial ritual at 2:00 and the members of the AMVETS will meet at 3:30 for a memorial service. The Massena Volunteer Fire Department will meet for a memorial at 6:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 AM at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald Manfred, celebrating. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
      In lieu of flowers, family and friends may honor him by donating to the Massena Volunteer Fire Department, Massena Rescue Squad, or Church of the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund.
