- Edward William Price, 55, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away April 14, 2012. Born in Syracuse, New York, Ed attended Scituate, Massachusetts High School and Emerson College. Ed moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he started his career as a computer engineer at Jeffrey Mining & Equipment Company. While in Columbus, Ed volunteered with the Columbus Zoo, where he had the unique opportunity to babysit a six-month old mountain lion. Ed moved to Freehold, NJ where he continued his computer engineering career at Continental Insurance in Neptune, NJ. While in Freehold, Ed was an active member of the Freehold First Aid Squad. While working for Continental Insurance, Ed met Marion Daniels, the love of his life and wife for 22 years. Ed and Marion moved to Manahawkin where Ed became a life member of the Stafford Township First Aid Squad. Born with a congenital heart defect, Ed bravely endured a number of surgeries and medical problems, throughout he continued to live life to its fullest owning a disk jockey business and most recently motorcycling.
Ed is survived by wife of 22 years, Marion Daniels Price, Manahawkin; his mother, Alice Price; and three sisters, Judith (John) of Hopewell, New York, Lorraine (Petr) Kuzma of Princeton, New Jersey, Michelle (Todd) Tuttle of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with their spouses; his nephews, Carl Alexander of Tracy, California, Alouette Alexander of Randolph, MA and Christopher Morgan of Charlotte, North Carolina; and grandnephew, Tyler Meaney and grandniece, Macyn Meaney of Randoph, MA.
Quick with his wit, Ed brought a number of laughs to his extended family and will be greatly missed by all. Hours before Edward's death, his father, Floyd, also passed away.
The family will receive relatives and friends for both Edward and Floyd Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ. The funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Mary of the Pine's Church, Manahawkin, NJ. Committal is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Ed's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 Seventh Ave., Suite 1802, New York, New York.
