- EAGLE RIVER, Alaska - Private family services for Jean Determan Shea, 72, of Eagle River, Alaska, were held Feb. 14, 2001, at the Lauterburg-Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights, Ill. Interment was at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
Jean Determan Shea died on Feb. 6, 2001, at the Providence Catholic Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
Jean was born March 3, 1928, in Mason City. She was the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Lynch) Determan. She graduated from Mason City High School, attended UNI and graduated from Colorado State at Boulder, Colo.
She was the Home Economics Director for an electrical power company in Colorado overseeing appliances with demonstrations for the public at the power company. She also wrote radio commercials which encompassed the area.
She later taught high school English in Colorado and Michigan. She retired after working as a sales representative selling office products for 19 years in the Chicago area.
She is survived by three sons, Craig Shea, of Island Lake, Ill., David Shea, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Steven Shea, of Arlington Heights, Ill.; grandchildren, Michael and Crystal Shea; brother, Jack Determan and his wife, Doris, of Clear Lake; brother-in-law, George Lammers, of Streamwood, Ill.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Patricia Lammers.
