Notes |
- From Butte's Montana Standard 7/28/2005:
John Claire Ford Sr. died Monday evening at his home in Anaconda.
John Claire was born of Nov. 30, 1934, in Atkinson, Neb., the fourth of six children born to Robert and Elizabeth (Sterns) Ford. He grew up in Nebraska until age 14 and then traveled and held many jobs all across the United States. He finally decided to settle down in Anaconda, where he worked at the Carter Gas Station, which was owned by his father-in-law, Joe Hannon. In the 1950s, he started working for the Anaconda Co. until his retirement in 1984.
He met and married Constance "Connie" Hannon in 1953. They were blessed with six children.
John lived in Anaconda, but when the need was there, he would return home to Atkinson to visit family, especially his sister Anita. He had many passions in life, including hunting, camping, fishing and restoring old cars. He enjoyed spending time with his long-time friends Bob Crist, Carol Parsons and Ailleen Bristow, and the Thompson Bar 8 a.m. coffee clutch. His greatest joy later in life was experienced with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Connie; father, Robert Ford; stepfather, Jay Larson; mother, Betty Larson; brother, Bob, and his close friend, Bob Crist.
Survivors include his children and spouses, Deborah Jean Culbertson, Rosemarie (Ronnie) Plumb, Peggy (Scott) Barclay, Constance Jeanette Navarro, John Clair Ford Jr., and Donna "Lisa" Jenkins; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anita (Orland) Anson and Ramona Wilson; brothers, Larry (Ellen) Ford and Dallas Ford, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted from the Hope Lutheran Church on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ted Hamann officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation/wake will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anaconda Chapel of KT Riddle Funeral Homes.
Memorials: American Cancer Society.
Services are under the care of the KT Riddle Funeral Homes, Anaconda.
