- Old Lyme - John "Jack" Noyes, 61, a life-long resident of Old Lyme, died on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
Jack was born on April 6, 1950, the son of James and Helen Noyes. He was a graduate of Lyme-Old Lyme High School, after which he attended the University of New Haven. He worked 40 years in the family business, James B Noyes & Sons, building and renovating homes. Jack's athletic interests were well-known to Old Lyme residents, having played baseball, basketball, soccer, darts and volleyball and having coached Little League baseball teams. He enjoyed watching his children participate in sports as well. He loved boating on and swimming in Rogers Lake and received much joy from his garden and flowers.
Survivors include his life partner, Charlene Maddocks; He also leaves a daughter, Jhrusha Noyes; and a son, Graham Noyes, both Colorado residents; their mother, Beth Tichacek, of Old Lyme; his father, James B Noyes, and his life companion, Doris Hungerford; two brothers, Bruce Noyes and his wife, Tammy, of Old Lyme, and Walter Noyes of Naples, Fla. He also leaves several cousins and many friends in the area.
Jack was predeceased by his mother, Helen.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, in First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.
Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, Old Lyme, is handling the arrangements.
