  • Notes
    • July 20, 2009 Mildred "Milly" C. Churchwell, born January 15, 1949, lost her recent battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a 12-year survivor of breast cancer and a nine-year survivor of uterine cancer. Survived by her husband, Rodney E. Churchwell (retired army, currently employed by Centro Bus Co.), whom she had met on the dance floor 14 years prior and have been side by side since. She was the cherished mother of Jolan Kazmirski of Syracuse, and Carl (Kristin) Price of Cicero; stepmom to James (Sue) Hess of Burdett, NY, and Jennifer (Mitch) Bischoff and Wendy Churchwell of FL; mother-in-law, Betty Ann Becker of Lamesa, TX; and sister-in-law, Maryann (Cono) Perez of Seminole, TX; the adored grandmother to Brittany, Carl, Zachariah, Nicholas, Kayleigh, Alexis, Ciara, Daryl and Amber; sister of Louise (Richard) Sharp of West Monroe, Lorraine Atwood of Bernhards Bay, Roberta Barcza of Nedrow, Stuart and Donald Atwood of Syracuse, and Robert Atwood of Sylvan Beach; loved by many nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew. She was employed for the last six years at Enable of CNY and was a proud member of S.H.A.P.E. An active member of the church of the Nazarene for 23 years, she taught Sunday school and was a member of the board. She enjoyed volunteering her time to her church family. She was a true leader in the church. There will be no calling hours or flowers. Please make donations to any type of Cancer Society of your choosing, and please check your family history for cancer and be checked regularly. A future memorial service will be held in the North Syracuse Church of the Nazarene.
