    • Ronald W. Crane, 76, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at 8:13 p.m. in St. John's Hospital. He was born September 30, 1933, in Jerseyville, Ill., to Lyman R. Sr. and Mazie Pennock Crane. Ron was a graduate of Bethalto Illinois High School and Shurtleff College in Alton, Ill. Ron was transferred to Springfield in 1960 by the Missouri Division of Employment Security. He retired in 1993 and was a Vocational Training Administrator. Ron was a Board Member and Past President of Lakes Country Rehabilitation Center and former Board Member for the Southwest Center for Independent Living. He was also past Chairman of the Governor's Committee on the Employment of the Handicapped and he formally served on the Springfield Public Works Expenditures Committee and the Advisory Committee for Community Development. He was currently serving on the City Sewer Appeal Board. Ron was a long-time member of Elk's Lodge #409 and Big Deer Investment Club. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyman R Crane Jr., Robert W. Crane, and a grandson, Christopher Hayter. Ron is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; son, Scott Crane of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, Cynthia Carter of Springfield, Mo.; two step-sons, Rex Hayter of Pueblo, Colo., and Randy (Jeanne) Hayter of Fort Worth, Texas; two step-daughters, Kathy (Mark Sr.) Burk of Willard, Mo., Karen Greeson and her fiancé Randy Frakes of Springfield. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, Tyler Crane, Samantha Hayter, Adam Hayter, Todd Hale, Jason Hale, Brian (Christy) Joy, Bethany Joy , Amber Hammers and Ryan (Nikki) Greeson, Mark (Diana) Burk Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Ashton Sandusky, Cody Sandusky, Toddy Hale, Matt Hale, Megan Greeson, Macy Greeson, and R.C. Hodges. He is also survived by two nephews, LR "Rod" Crane III of Springfield, Mo., and Daniel Crane of Aurora, Mo.; as well as, a great nephew, Aaron Crane. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Mobile Dental Program, 2223 E Bennett Street, Springfield, MO 65804.
