- Juanita D. Motley, 92, of Shawnee, KS, died April 12, 2010, at Sharon Lane Nursing Home.
She was born in Barry Oct. 22, 1917, a daughter of Charles and Joanna (Turner) Davis.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Patti) Motley of Shawnee, KS; grandchildren, Doug (Karen) of Lansing, MI, Brian of Appleton, WI, Shawn (Mayleen) Callahan of Kansas City, MO, Melissa Allen of Shawnee; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Wilma Altizer of Pittsfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Grant Pennock, Howard Davis and Charles Davis; and a sister, Freda Canterbury.
Mrs. Motley was a 1935 graduate of Barry High School. She lived in Pittsfield then North Kansas City for 35 years and Green Bay, WI, before moving to Shawnee in 2005.
She retired from the Baptist Book Store and enjoyed singing in church choirs for many years. She attended Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple at the time of her death. She had a great love for family and sacrificed much for them.
Visitation is Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry. Graveside services will follow immediately at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry with Clint Weir officiating.
