- Gladys L. (Mrs. Marvin) Garlough, 95, DeWitt, died Tuesday morning, February 8, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.
The former Gladys Lucille Pennock was born October 11, 1915 in LeClaire, to Raymond and Lola Pennock. She married Marvin Garlough April 17, 1933 in Muscatine. Gladys was employed as a seamstress at McDonald Cleaners for several years. She then worked for Frank Spikins Calendar Company, DeWitt, for 12 years and retired from Pinney Printing Company of Clinton following 12 years of service. Her husband preceded her in death July 12, 1991.
Gladys was a member of the United Methodist Church, DeWitt, and the Loyal Order of Moose of which she served as Deputy Grand Regent for the State of Iowa. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and sewing.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin, Jr. and Deloris Garlough, Clinton; Lynn and Elverda Garlough, Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and Rick and Tatjana Garlough, Gainesville, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Gladys in death in addition to her husband, Marvin were five brothers and a sister.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 in the United Methodist Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Chuck Kelsey officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
