- ELDRIDGE, Iowa ? Graveside services for Mildred C. Nantz, 96, of Eldridge, Iowa, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery mausoleum. There will be no visitation prior to services. Mrs. Nantz passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, Iowa. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Mildred Carolyn Pennock was born in Davenport on September 27, 1914, the daughter of Bracey and Hazel (Edwards) Pennock. On January 20, 1937, she married Robert Nantz in Waterloo, Iowa. During World War II, she worked for Petersen Harned Von Maur darning nylon stockings. Mrs. Nantz was a Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Stanley) Johannsen of Clinton, Iowa, and Barbara Nantz of DeWitt, Iowa; a son, James (Karen) Nantz of Champaign, Ill.; three grandchildren, Sara (Ron) Darling of Clinton, Iowa, Timothy Johannsen of Clinton, Iowa, and Christopher (Tammie) Johannsen of Cordova, Ill.; two nephews; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Ann Thoensen, and a grandson, Michael Johannsen.
