Notes |
- BANNING Anna Dorothy (nee Belec) age 95, passed away 7 November 2007. Pre-deceased by her husband Gerald of 55 years in 1992, she is survived by 4 children Lorraine Oostwoud (Roelof), Dennis (Donna), and twins Gerard and Margaret-Anne, 3 grand children and 2 great grand-children. She was the last remaining member of a family of 10 siblings. Anna was a person of strong religious convictions that she shared and practiced with her husband Gerry throughout their married life. As a mother and wife, she took great pleasure and pride in using her exceptional cooking and sewing talents for the benefit of her family. As a young woman, she survived both the loss of the family home to the Haileybury fire, and the great depression, experiences that instilled in her a sense of practicality and thrift. Despite those early hardships, she had a generous spirit, making it a point to being kind to everyone she met. She always will be remembered for her good humoured nature and her warm smile. Her infectious laugh cheered everyone who met her and was her trademark right to the end. Anna?s children are deeply grateful to the staff of Bethamni Nursing Home for their devoted and kind attention to our mother over the last decade. It was always comforting for the family to know that Anna received the best of care during her final years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 10, 2007 when friends and family will gather for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Dominic?s Church celebrated by Rev. Daniel Lapolla c.s. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel with Vigil prayers at 6:00 p.m.
