Alice Lukian, age 83, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 30, 2007 with her family by her side.
She is survived by her husband Dave McDermid, her daughter Bonnie Wing (Gordon Coffey) of Vancouver, brothers Nick (Rose) Kurulak of Kamloops, John (Ella) Kurulak of Nanaimo, Andrew Kurulak of Winnipeg, and sister Georgina Danyluk of Winnipeg. She is also survived by Jim (Glenda) McDermid of Ottawa, Arthur (Helen) McDermid of Owen Sound, Debbie (Bevan) Warren, Kerry (Erma) McDermid, and Mark McDermid, all of Fort McMurray, Kelly (Karin) McDermid of Athabasca, Jamie (Lisa) McDermid of Edmonton, Greg McDermid of Hairy Hills Alberta, Kim (Ray) Lurz of Pennsylvania, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
One of thirteen children, Alice was born in Stenen, Saskatchewan, but spent most of her life in the Kamloops area. She was a high energy person who truly loved to serve others. A humble but extraordinary woman, she was loved by many.
Prayers and viewing to be at 7:00 pm, December 9 in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 1044-8th St, North Kamloops. Tea to follow.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on the following day, Monday, Dec 10 in the Church. Burial at Hillside Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please send your donations in memory of Alice to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S, Kamloops BC V2E 2S9. A hospice donation box will also be at the church during the evening prayers, funeral, and luncheon.
