    Tom Williams
    Tom passed away May 18, 2015. Tom was born February 12, 1935 in Adrian, MI; the son of Adrian and Irene (Finley) Williams and was a resident of Springfield, MI for many years. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. While in the army, Tom served as driver for the Commanding General of the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks Ohua, Hawaii. A graduate of Western Michigan University with a B.S. in Industrial Arts Education in 1959 and a M.A. in Industrial Education in 1961, Tom was an Industrial Arts teacher and taught in Fremont Public Schools and the Springfield Public Schools, retiring in 1990. A volunteer firefighter for the City of Springfield for twenty eight years, Tom was also on the Board of Appeals for twenty four years. Tom was an active member of Lions Club International, and a member of the former Springfield Lions Club, the Bedford Area Lions Club and the Wauchula Lions Club in Florida, and a past district governor of District 11-B-1, Michigan. Tom was also a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge 207, and a Battle Creek Enquirer George Award recipient in 1979. Tom was also a member of Westlake Presbyterian Church and Country Chapel Methodist Church. Tom was also a woodworker and amateur radio operator: KC8FRL; and enjoyed spending the winter in Florida for many years and summers at the lake. Tom will be remembered as a leader, a devoted family man, a community volunteer, and mostly for the love he had for children.
    On October 25, 1975, Tom married the former Julia M. Pennock, who survives. He is also survived by children: Becky (John) Webb, Amy (Richard) Girardo; a sister: Kay Williams; a sister-in-law: Pat Williams; step-daughters: Lori Stormshak (Ted Hubbard) and Shelly McMurray; grandchildren: Kelsie and Carley Webb, Ben and Kyle Girardo, Jami (Chris) Browning, Jodi Stormshak (Peter Bailey); great-grandchildren: Ella and Max Browning; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Wendy Williams; and a brother: Robert Williams.
    Tom's family will receive friends Thursday, May 21, 2015, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton, where Tom's Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Pastor Ryan Wieland, officiating. Private burial will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Country Chapel United Methodist Church or Bedford Lions Club will be appreciated.
