- HILLSDALE - Arbutus Lenore "Boots" Daniels, 84, of Jerome, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born Oct. 12, 1930 in Tipton to Walter and Dolores (Hardy) Sneary. Boots married John Franklin Daniels on May 29, 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Boots retired from the North Adams-Jerome schools. She was an active member of the Jerome United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and president of the United Methodist Women. She was a former 4-H leader who enjoyed teaching cake decorating and a former member of the North Adams-Jerome Schools PTA.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Tim) Sears and Marilyn (Larry) Gurr, both of Jerome, and Phyllis (Rick) Gordon of Hillsdale; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; twpo great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Jack) Daniels and Bonnie (Dave) Phillips, both of Jerome; and son-in-law, Steve (Dawn) McPeek of North Adams.
In addition to her husband, John, Boots was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joanne McPeek; and brother, Walter Sneary.
Funeral services for Arbutus "Boots" Daniels will be Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale, with Pastor Tim Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at Aldrich Cemetery in Jerome. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Jerome United Methodist Church.
