- Long time New Rochelle resident, Betty Ledden, passed away early Saturday morning, November 5, 2016. She died peacefully, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Elizabeth Jane DesJardins was born August 28, 1926 in Plattsburgh, NY and was the daughter of Albert and Margaret DesJardins. She grew up in Eastchester and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel College in White Plains. She was a very well respected elementary school teacher for many years in New Rochelle. Betty was happily married to John Ledden (who predeceased her) for more than 57 years and was mother to 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Janet Schwetz and husband Phil; Jim; Rich and wife, Pat (Cantarella); Bob and wife, Nancy (D'Onofrio); Dan and wife, Suzanne (Austin); and Maureen Arnold. Her grandchildren are Kim Conca, Cathleen Marzullo, Michael Schwetz, Jim Carter, Diana Martin, Katrina Dunn, Brian Ledden, Jake Ledden, Kelly Brusco, Amy Ledden, CJ and Cody Arnold.
A memorial service will be held at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Place in New Rochelle on Tuesday, November 8th, from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm.
