- Longtime Pomona and San Gabriel Valley attorney Darrell E. Moore has passed at the age of 71. Darrell was born February 1, 1933 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated Pomona High School in 1950. He continued his studies first at Mt. San Antonio Community College where he obtained an Associates of Arts degree in 1954. He then proceeded to Whittier College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1956. He completed his education at Loyola School of Law earning his law degree and passing the California Bar Exam in 1963. He married Denyce Robertson on August 1, 1959 and together they had four sons, Darrell (Barbara), Dennis (Diane), Darren (Joey) and Douglas (Lana). Of all of life's accomplishments he was most proud of nine grandchildren: Kyle, Amanda, Caitlin, Ryan, Trevor, Spencer, Emily, Natalie and Connor. Additionally he is survived by Stepdaughter Krista Griggs and her daughter Anna. Darrell served briefly in both the United States Navy and t he United States Coast Guard. He worked his way through law school at night by working at the California Youth Authority as a counselor and as a probation officer with the County of Los Angeles. He practiced law primarily in the Pomona and Citrus courthouses representing the criminally accused. He was fond of saying that the best time he had in court was cross-examining police officers and putting the prosecutor to his proof. He actively practiced law from 1963 until his retirement in 1990. Darrell was ab le to realize a life's dream when he had the opportunity to travel to Ireland with Denyce, Douglas and Lana. His fondest memory was sharing a pint of Guinness with Douglas at a real Irish pub. He spent his retirement years enjoyably pursuing his hobby of collecting political campaign buttons and to the dispensing of his "grandfatherly advice" to his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren and to "all" others within earshot. His love, counsel and friendship will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 28 at Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 29 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina. Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
