- GRANDFIELD -- Funeral for Glen William Hargis, 86, Grandfield, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Gray Funeral Home Chapel, Grandfield, with the Rev. David Gardner, minister, First United Methodist Church, and Dr. Bob Burch, pastor, First Baptist Church, Grandfield, officiating.
Burial will be in Grandfield Memorial Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Grandfield, to Luther and Mattie Bolton Hargis. He graduated from Grandfield High School with the Class of 1939. He entered the U.S. Army on Nov. 7, 1942, where he served in the Air Corps during World War II. He also served in Maxton, N.C., for the Glider Pilots during the invasion in Europe, and in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 12, 1946. He married Viola McCafferty on Feb. 14, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a farmer and rancher, and a member of First Baptist Church in Grandfield. He served as board of director's president for Co-op Services Inc. in Grandfield, Chattanooga and Lawton.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Ronald and Pat, Yukon; and Ray, Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandsons: Michael and wife Rochelle, Frisco, Texas; Joshua and wife Tish, Evadale, Texas; Tyler, Yukon; and Marshall, Weatherford, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a grandson, Jason; and a brother, Leroy.
