David B. Johnson, 55, of Hartford, passed away suddenly at home on August 23, 2009. Dave was born in Hartford, June 22, 1954, the son of Carl Johnson and the late Janet Johnson of Newington. He graduated from Newington High School in 1971. Dave was a gifted musician. In the 1970's and 80's he performed as "Connecticut Dave" playing guitar and bass with local bands including Billy & the Buttons, Second Sight with Irma Faust, and The Tips. Besides his father, Dave is survived by three brothers, Carl Johnson and his companion, Nancy Bouchard of Colombia, Paul Johnson of Newington and Mark Johnson and his girlfriend, Carol Burke of San Marcos CA; two sisters and their husbands, Karen and Ken Loveland of West Hartford and Barbara and Don Melander of Vernon; a niece, Bonnie Loveland and her companion Pam Barnhart of Sunbury, PA and two nephews, Eric Loveland and his wife Athina of Newington and Peter Melander of Vernon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 29, at 1 p.m. at The First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Tpk. (Route 30) Vernon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Immaculate Conception Shelter & Housing Corp.
