- George Langa, 61, of Wallingford, died on Sunday morning, (April 14, 2002) at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Latvia on September 8, 1940, the son of the late Kris and Anna Bergs Langa, he had resided in Wallingford most of his life. Mr. Langa had attended local schools and was a graduate of Meriden High School. He was employed by Wallace Silversmith Company of Wallingford for some 28 years, and more recently by Guest Company of Meriden. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, having served with the U.S. Army. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Dowd of Meriden, and Kathryn and Pieter Visser of New Hartford; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Justine Langa of Wallingford; eight grandchildren, Jimmy and Christopher Dowd, Danielle, Kaytlyn, and Jessica Langa; Mike and Joey Dudley; and Pieter Visser; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Velta and George Ciunga of Smithtown, Long Island, NY and Mrs. Lucy Garnelis of Ellington; also by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 18, 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, with the Rev. Wallace Merdinyan officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be the CT State Veterans' Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Wednesday, April 17, 4-8 p.m.
