Born Aug. 19, 1932, in Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie (Maynard) Chappell. She was the loving and devoted wife to Herbert K. Caton (who predeceased her in 2000).
Mrs. Caton was a 30+ year member of the Salem Vol. Fire Co. auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but her greatest joy was found in her family.
She is survived by her two children, Gary and Debbie Caton, both of Salem; three grandchildren, Michael Silva, Melissa Justice (and husband, Derek) and Jennifer Hyde; seven great-grandchildren, Connor, Aidan and Mackenzie, Alyssa, Kiana, Dylan and Kelcie; three sisters, June Roselund of Uncasville, Shirley Chappell of Sterling and Linda Walker of Salem; three brothers, Arnold, Melvin and Herbert Chappell, all of Salem; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Walter.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. The funeral will assemble starting at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home before a 10 a.m. chapel service. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Salem Vol. Fire Co., 424 Hartford Road, Salem, CT 06420.
