    • Eleanor Whittles (Bates) Currier, 82, died on Sunday, February 6th, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.
      Eleanor was born on March 8, 1922, in Southbridge, Mass. She lived for many years in Ledyard.
      On Aug. 7, 1943, she married Ralph H. Currier who predeceased her in 1990.
      She took great pleasure in attending her grandchildren's baseball games. In fact, she loved all family activities.
      Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Patricia Maudsley, and Wendy Martin; one son, Stephen Currier; two sisters, Charlotte Stockwell and Jane Thomas; a brother, John Bates; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
      She was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn Peterson; two sons, David and Paul Currier; a brother, Myron Whittles; a granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
      A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 11th, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. There are no calling hours.
