    • Harry L. "Roy" Welge Jr., 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, after a long illness.
      Roy was retired from the Connecticut DOT. He loved boating, camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He particularly enjoyed spending his time on the shoreline's most beautiful natural resource, the Connecticut River.
      Roy was born in Old Saybrook.
      He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Peterson and Chris Goss, both whom passed away from the same illness as Roy.
      He is survived by son, Robert Welge and his wife, Lynn; daughter, Tammi Welge; two grandchildren, Tammi Welge and Melissa Cutone; by a sister, Beatrice "Gay" Jacques; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. Family and friends are also invited to meet at Eight Mile Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in Lyme for the burial service with full military honors.
      In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Huntington Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave., Suite 902, New York NY 10018 in memory of Harry "Roy" Welge.
