    • Ernest Ralph Tolx Sr. of Bokum Road, Old Saybrook, died Thursday at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was 75.
      He was born in New Haven and settled in Old Saybrook after World War II. He was drafted into the infantry in 1944, and served in the China, Burma India theater. He was decorated by the Chinese government for his service. He was a painting contractor for over 50 years.
      He is survived by his wife, Eunice LaPlace Tolx; two sons, Ernest R. Tolx Jr. of Anson, Maine, and Peter C. Tolx of Old Saybrook; a daughter, Amy T. Henzy of Old Saybrook; a brother, Paul C. Tolx of Stuart, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
      A service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Essex Baptist Church, Prospect St., Essex. Burial in Centerbrook Cemetery, with military honors, will be private.
      Donations may be made to the Old Saybrook Police Brotherhood Association.
