- Isabell (Rossetti) Babbitt, of Firetown Road, Simsbury, beloved wife of the late Marshall W. Babbitt, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her daughters. She was born December 26, 1921 in Unionville, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Peloso) Rossetti and had lived in Simsbury for most of her life. Mrs. Babbitt was an Administrative Assistant for the Town of Simsbury Recreation Department for several years prior to her retirement. She had also worked for Richardson?s Clothing Store, Weldon Hardware and the University of Hartford. Isabell was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury and a former member of St. Mary?s Church in Simsbury, a member of the Friends of the Simsbury Public Library, the Simsbury Historical Society and the Hamilton Sundstrand Retirees? Club. She was also an avid tennis player and loved to crochet. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Elizabeth ?Betty? and Victor Pugliese of Windsor, Marshall W. Babbitt, Jr. and his wife, Janet of Ormond Beach, FL, Mary Babbitt of East Hartford and Deborah and Willi Matava of Collinsville; a brother and his wife, George and Shirley Rossetti of Granby; two sisters, Mary Jane Babbitt of East Granby and Gloria Rossetti of Canton; eight grandchildren, George Dauphinais II, Donna Naparstek, Willi Matava II, Gregory K. Matava and four grandchildren from Florida, 17 great grandchildren; nine great, great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Alice B. Bogus, of Cape Cod, MA and many dear friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her brother, Lt. Colonel Christopher J. Rossetti and a sister, Anna Annino. The family would like to thank the many wonderful friends and neighbors for their kindness shown to Isabell over the years. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, Wednesday, May 18th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral will be Thursday, May 19th, 9:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Town of Simsbury Social Services Department.
