- James L. Stebbins Jr., husband of Dorothy Cornelis Stebbins, of Glastonbury, died Saturday (Nov. 9, 1996) in Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Middletown, son of the late James L. Stebbins Sr. and Marion Rogers Stebbins, he lived in the area most of his life. He was a toolmaker at the Johnson and Johnson Co. Mr. Stebbins was Valedictorian of his class at Vinal Tech, class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, and was past president and regional president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also very active in the Glastonbury Little League. Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Barbara and John Franschena of Hebron, Susan and Doug Smith of Glastonbury, Cynthia and Roland Mason of East Hartford, Theodore and Regina Stebbins of Glastonbury, James L. III and Diane Stebbins of East Hartford, Cheryl Stebbins and her fiance', Andy Kelley of Glastonbury, Jon Henry Stebbins and his fiancee', Katherine Benson of East Hartford; his grandchildren, Victor and Mickey Anderson of Monson, ME, Sherri and Kristen Franschena, James and Daniel Stebbins, Joshua and Geoffrey Stebbins, Kristina Mason; his brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Turney, Walter Spring, Bertha Spring, Perilla Wacter, Amelia Valli, Karen Stebbins; his mother and father-in-law, Gus and Barbara Lornelis; several nephews and nieces; and a host of friends. Funeral service will be Tuesday, 1 p.m., in the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpke., Glastonbury. Burial will be in Green Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glastonbury Little League or to the Glastonbury Volunteer Ambulance.
