- Everett William Banning Jr., 32, husband of Janis Chadbourne Banning of Hickory Lane, Ivoryton, died Sunday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London, after a head-on crash on Route 1 in Old Saybrook, late Saturday.
He was born in Ivoryton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett W. Banning of Ivoryton, and he lived there all his life. He was employed by Bailey Metallurgical Company of Centerbrook for the past seven years and was formerly with Schellens and True Company of Ivoryton. He was a member of the Ivoryton Congregational Church, the Essex Fire Department and of BPOE No. 1784 of Westbrook.
Besides his wife and parents he leaves a son, Everett William Banning III, at home, a daughter, Linda M. Banning, at home; a sister, Mrs. Richard Budney of Ivoryton; two nieces and four nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Robinson and Wright Funeral Home, Main Street, Centerbrook. Burial is Centerbrook Cemetery, Centerbrook. Calling hours are Tuesday 7 to 9 P.M. Elks visitation at 8 P.M. Tuesday
