- Norma T. Bramble, 95, of Rome, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Rome on July 19, 1917, the daughter of Henry A. and Irma Walker Toept. Norma was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On June 22, 1946 she married the love of her life, Joseph B. Bramble, a marriage of just 24 years with his untimely death in 1968.
Norma was a fun loving person, always with a smile and known for her wit. She was a former member of the Cypress Twigs, Wednesday Morning Club, and a regular volunteer in the snack bar at Rome Memorial Hospital. Norma loved to play cards, bridge and pinochle being her favorites. She retired after 24 years from the then Rome Savings Bank in the new accounts department.
Surviving are her two loving daughters and spouses, Shelly and David Longo, and Kim and Robert Augustine, all of Rome; and her niece and husband, Judy and Richard Miller of MI. Norma had a great fondness for all of her feline companions. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Harrington; brother, Paul Toept; two nephews, Brian and Bruce Harrington; and niece Janice Mazza.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Betsy Ross Special Needs unit for the excellent care and heartfelt concern for Norma over the past four years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St., Rome. Burial in Rome Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service.
