- Eleanor R. Sanstrom, "Aunt Ellie", 90, of Middletown, wife of the late John W. Sanstrom, died, Saturday, (January 14, 2006) at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown she was the daughter of the late Grace M. Lord and Dudley M. Russell. A life long resident of Middletown, she spent summers in Old Saybrook. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Trinity in Middletown, Lady Washington Chapter #45 OES, AARP #3310, and a long time director and treasurer of the former District Nurses Assn. of Middletown, former board member of St. Luke's Home, life member of Middlesex Hospital Auxiliary, member of CT Valley Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the Red Cross as well as many other local charities. She is survived by her devoted brother, Robert J. Lord of Wethersfield; her beloved niece, Mrs. Robert (Lynn Emmette) Boyer of Dallas, TX; and her four dear nephews, Jay D. Emmette and his wife, Heidi of Middletown, Gary M. Lord and his wife, Patti of Cromwell, David J. Lord of Cottage Grove, OR, and Steven J. Lord and his wife, Angel of Gilbertsville, PA; as well as many very special great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mrs. John (Shirley) Emmette. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Middletown on Wednesday, January 18 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Margaret H. Minnick officiating and interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown, Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Church of the Holy Trinity Memorial Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
