- Groton, CT - Raymond O. Durant, Jr., age 77, of Groton passed away on Sept. 1, 2009.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he spent a long career in sales and various personal ventures until his semi-retirement years; he most recently worked for Rent-a-Space in Waterford, where he was able to continue his favorite past time, people.
He was the devoted husband of his loving wife, Linda (Stewart) and loving dad to his children, Monique Durant of Waterbury, Renee Durant of Pensacola, Fla., Raymond Durant III (Tamme) of Gloucester, Va., Dana Durant (Lisa) of Middletown, Dwain Stewart (Shannon) of Montville, Dawn Christley of Stonington and Dale Stewart of New London; he was the grandfather of twelve and great-grandfather of one.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Lake Cemetery in Groton. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton.
Donations in his memory may be directed to the Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church, 1241 Poquonnock Rd., Groton, CT 06340.
