- Jeanne Arnold Liska, 81, of East Haddam passed away on March 7, 2013 at Chest Elm Nursing Care, in Moodus after a battle with DLB dementia. She was born in Deep River, the daughter of Lloyd Starr Arnold and Loretta Bennett and the wife of Walter Liska Jr. for 65 years. Prior to the onset of this disease Jeanne spent her time writing poetry, songs, photographing and enjoying the wildlife and the land she shared and loved with her husband Walter which gave her the inspiration for her work. Much of her poetry was published in Noble House World of Poetry, The International and National Library of Poetry, The American Poetry Association, Santa Cruz, CA., The International Who's Who In Poetry, and The National Library of Poetry, Ownings Mills, MD. She won numerous awards including The Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Award and The Editors Choice Award from The National Library of Poetry. She was inducted as an honored member of The International Poet of Merit Society at The Diamond Homer Hollywood Convention and was presented the Poet of The Year bronze medallion. Jeanne was also a member of The World Of Poetry Press, Sacramento, CA., and The National Museum of Women In The Arts, Washington, DC with the credit of 30 awards of merit and seven Golden Poet Awards. In 2008 she published a book of her Poems and Prose and two of her poems she put to music and recorded a cd which was also later recorded by Capitol/Hilltop Records in California. Jeanne had a wide range of associates and had the honor of personally knowing famous figures as Albert Einstein and William Gillette. Jeanne is survived by her husband Walter Liska Jr., daughter, Marlaine Chrystal and her husband Gary Chrystal of Haddam, son Scott Liska of Salem, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 14, 5-7 p.m. at The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, CT 06409.
