- Alefford "A.C." Charles Spears, 92, of Amarillo died Thursday, October 5, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 in Memorial Parks Chapel of Memories with Rev. Barry Loving officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home 6969 I-40 East. A.C. was born October 8, 1924 in Henrietta to W.O. and Lillie Spears. He married Winnie Vee Shockley on February 17, 1955. A.C. served his country in the United States Army during World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was the City Manager of Borger for 32 years. A.C. was a member of First Christian Church, the Dance Club and the Elks Lodge in Borger. He graduated from West Texas State, currently West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. A.C.'s hobbies included fishing, traveling the United States and dancing with the love of his life. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the V.A. Hospital or the church of your choice. A.C. was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Charles Spears; brother, O.C. Spears and sister, Ruby "Dutch" Bush. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Vee Spears; son, Donnie Gene Hurter; daughter, Deborah Lee Spears McManus and spouse David A. McManus; grandchildren: Leneta Gevonne Robison, Deborah Leighann Wyche, Samantha Lee Seago-Clarke and David Charles McManus; 10 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
