Notes |
- Barbara Ann Kotecki Montville- Barbara Ann Kotecki, 80 formally of New London, and a current resident of Uncasville died at home on March 31st, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara (Nana has she was best known by all who loved her) was born August 2, 1936, in New London, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Eunice (Daniels) and the late Albert Hamler. She was the wife of the late Richard Kotecki, whom she married on November 27, 1954, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in New London. Their 55-year marriage served as a fine example to their family and friends of what love, commitment, and self-sacrificing Christ-like love is all about. She is survived by her loving sons, Richard David Kotecki Jr. and his wife Johanna, of Griswold, CT, Jeffrey Kotecki and his partner Pamela Porter of Mystic, CT, Greg Kotecki and his wife Deborah of New London, CT and David Kotecki and his Wife Wendy of Waterford, CT. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Hamler of Rhode Island, Sister-in-Law Delores "Dee" Thorp of New London, Charles Kotecki, Brother-in-Law of Ledyard, and Sister-in-Law, Virginia Hamler of New London. Nana also is survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three siblings: Viola Durkee, Albert Hamler, Paul Hamler. Nana loved her family and especially her sons which she loved to tell anyone within earshot that she had "four boys". Nana loved to have her family every Sunday for breakfast. This event was also always attended by family and friends where all the world's problems were identified and solved each and every Sunday. Nana loved having her sons and grandchildren and great grandchildren to her home because her life's calling was caring for her family. She was employed by the former Bureau of Better Business Practice in Waterford Connecticut for over ten years. She also was employed by Sheffield Tube Corporation in New London Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 10 O'clock at Harkness Chapel on the campus of Connecticut College. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home 12 Ocean Avenue New London.
